Question

Is there an easy way to re-name files in a directory in sequential date/time order ?

I want to re-name a directory full of photos with the subject followed by a sequential number.

Irfan View is an excellent free utility that does this (plus loads more).

I use batch it pro 3 for manipulating/renaming files - great for being able to go though a whole directory, renaming and resizing, adding fixed text to the image and create thumbnails.

You can set it to rename sequentially and add starting or ending strings to the name. You can download a 21 day trial version from here
