Well, it's nearly pay review time again and I just want to check how much the "market rate" for IT staff has moved in the last 12 months. Does anybody know a good source for this information? For info, I am a specialist Systems Administrator in Central London.

I had almost given up on this thread but dsmith and Mr Grim Reaper saved the day. As far as I am concerned its a 3k pay rise minimum or I'm on the lookout for pastures new.

Judging by the fact that 2 scoobynet regualrs were made redudant this week, dot.coms (amazon,fool etc) are laying of staff left right and centre and it took me 3 months to find a new job....and codemasters shed 90 jobs...

I reckon we are aproaching some hard times..

Although a few areas are doing ok..link comms and java.

As one of these two people, I have to say that I did work for a bricks and moltar company!! (not a flash in the pan, dot com!!)

Company re-structure! Oh well!!

Does anybody know of a company who is looking for an eCRM team??

I know that GE is losing 75,000 jobs, and that Walmart is in trouble int he states. I think VERY hard times are ahead!!

It's not just dot com companies in trouble!!

As stated if General Electric (worlds largest company, after Microsoft broke up) and Walmart (worlds largest supermarket) are in trouble, we will all be hit in one way or another!!!

Good business analyst are hard to come by, and they woudl charge in the region of £1000 per day.

Depending on the level of the project manager (techie or non-techie) the rates vary between £650 to £1500 per day!!!!

Im not an IT Techy but a Project Manager, ive noticed that the Rates are astronomical within my industry (Banking) Ive got a budget to recruit a new team based in Milano and its really hard to find the right level of skills even if im offering £700 per day

The market is big and so are the rates, but you can't find the right people even if your offering the right money.

Anyone know of any good Business Analysts and Project Managers within E Commerce?

One of my old companies was recruiting for the role in June this year, that I used to do before I left at marginally more salary than when I left and a hell of a lot less than what I get now. There are so many ex-IT workers in the market, they can afford to slash the salaries and still get people to apply and they did!
So no, I still don't think things are getting better...yet

I work as an Java & .NET analyst/developer for a certain large US company .. been here nearly 2.5 years and so far have had a measly 4% rise. Not at all good.

Not like things were in the late 90's

I earn substantially less that I did 3 years ago say 20% and I used to have a company car (Golf GTi - Heavy sack of bordom, anyway im going off topic).
Oh and Im also in a higher position now having Senoir as my title. Im now a Senior Systems Administrator / Senior IT Consultant.
Dont get me wrong I still earn alright but the good days are well and truely gone. I work for a medium sized ISP.
