Does anyone know if the PS2 can play DVD+RW/+R DVDs/games?

I'm told they can. But, I haven't had a chance to try my Messiah-chipped PS/2 with a DVD+RW yet. I've got a drive at home and will give it a go over the weekend. If you don't get an answer, bug me on Monday (just mail me direct). If you get an answer, mail me with what the answer was?

A mate played a copied DVD on his PS2 last night and it worked. Don't know how because his PS2 is standard and his DVD player picked it up but wouldnt play it.

 

if the ps2 is chipped it will play r/rw disks ...
if it aint chipped... then no... just origional games and dvds!!!

Why did my mates PS2 play the film then? It's not chipped.

only version 5 playstation 2 and above will play games copied with dvd+r and +rw media

 

The PS2 will Play DVDr FILMS without a modchip
Dont know about DVDrw films.

It will only play DVD games with a modchip

 

Reading this, could anyone furnish me with a private email or post where I may find a muppets guide to PS2 chipping options and 'disk compatibility' for the PS2? I've been trying to look up on the web but there are so many options, NEO, messiah, non-solder chips (that require soldering!?), heavy 16 wire soldering chips, USB widgets, Action Replay cartridges, CD swaps, etc, etc.

when I had my PS1, there was just one chip on the market. No choice. £5 only. 4/5 wires. Now there's a huge variety of options and I'm scared!!

You want a Messiah.Best modchip available for PS2 and no swap tricks either!!
Alright,there's a lot of work in soldering them in but once that's out the way,it's all downhill thereon!!
