im fed up with AOL... terrible connection problems( sometimes takes 10 mins to sign on), always bein cut off in the most awkward times, its driving me crazy.

where else can i go?????

I'm payin 25 quid for a cable connection(no phone line needed) 512kbps 24 hours a day,and i'm going to upgrade it 1024kbps in 2 weeks(35 quid per month).instalation is 25 quid. Beware though! don't go to shops that sell cable installations cause they are going to charge 50 quid for the instalation. Call Telewest directly.

 

PS. It's a download heaven. I've downloades 70 episodes of the 'Friends' series in 6 days.

I am with AOHEll. When it doesn't want to connect I have to reboot the PC ten million times, but when it is running it stays connected for ages!!!!

You should get the latest Solid Silver Optic Leads - speeds your connection up 100 times.

I have just bought 20 metres of it from the bloke who came to the Home today while Nursie was Xmas shopping - ONLY £300!!! Great Eh??

I assume you've tried different access numbers.
Best to avoid the ones they are currently suggesting and stick to an older one (0808 6633048 I think)

My AOhelL connects 1st time every time.

Hmmm AOL should connect every time on dial up, altough problems have been reported by those who have their telephone line supplied by Eurobell.

There are problems at the moment with ADSL connections although AOL are still denying its there fault!

The standard solution for dial up problems is to remove the global.org file, and let AOL restore it.

ok so what dial up numbers should i be using? i tried using the ones they suggest by punchin in me postcode, half of em are constantly engaged, or cut m off as soon as i sign on
im on a BT line

 

I can sympathise about those suffering from AOhell - experienced all the problems already mentioned. Now using unmetered dialup from Telewest which is cheaper and better (might have to go the whole hog and get Broadband now)

 

Yeah AOL was terrible, i had to Dial up ISP AOHELL and NTL. Now broadband thank god
