Check out the BM3W.co.uk forums they're a bit biased (suprise suprise) but all seem ok to talk to.

Few guys on there are ex P1 o1w1ners and1 should be able to give you a good comaprison, but anyone who spends 40k on a car aint gonna admit that they preferd a 20k equivelant.

There are many many many threads on the M3 on Scoobynet, use the search facility and you will see how many, a couple of which were over 10 pages long!!

Iam not going to answer your questions as it will only start off the debate again, and whats the point when we all kow the M3 wins at everything.........tick......tick......tick.....wa it for it.....

 

I haven't seen any recently.

However, if you take them on track I'd be a little cautious as I have recently become aware of several blowing up on trackdays. I even witnessed one only the other week.

The price difference at this moment in time between a P1/imported Sti and an M3 is so vast that the comparison is pointless.

20K is my absolute maximum for a car whether I have the money or not. If I want German build with Impreza power I"ll buy a tweaked Audi S4 and still have a rare car. If I don't care too much about interior/comfort imported 2000 model Sti for 15K makes more sense than any other car for me.
