Question

Can anyone tell me, if it's possible/safe/advisable to tow/recover a Golf with the 4Motion/Haldex 4WD system ?

Cool

Wouldn't risk it myself, the haldex system is dependant on all the wheels turning at approximately the same speed, so unless you are towing it with all four on the ground, I would use a trailer

the haldex only activates when it senses 15 degrees of spin on the fronts, as long as you aint booting it then cant see a problem tbh!

It's a proper anorak's website as well, my main criticism is of the VW handbook which doesn't go into much detail at all about the Haldex derived 4Motion's limitations wrt being towed.

I think I'll still scam flatbeds for any recovery in future though, as it seems a lot safer than having it dragged behind a truck
