Does it really matter that much? We all like different things, it's called choice. I like London despite all its problems, and it has plenty, but that is my choice. Most mature, balanced, adults would be able to see that.

But then F1 is none of those things. He's actually a poor excuse for a troll, evidenced by trying to use this thread to have a dig at Martin, Jon and I, just because we happen to live in the same City. How pathetic.

How empty does your life have to be to spend so much time on here posting utter nonsense?

I suppose if you're a 'single middleaged childless gentleman' who keeps cats and drives a cabriolet you lose some perspective on what is actually important in life.

I think a lot of your 'frustrations' are due to your inability to have children. Though I sympathise, you need to get past it.

Btw F1, don't bother replying because unlike you I'm not prepared to waste hours of my life trying to win some pathetic internet argument.

You crack on and spend half your life on here trying to get a hard on by pointless arguments
London is shyte though. The only people that apparently like the place is folk that live there and tourists.

Racism was rife in the seventies, but what occurred in Manchester was more recent, certainly this side of this century, the exact year I don't care to remember. In anycase, I wasn't making a judgement at all, just arguing the absurdity of F1's comment in tarring all Londoners as stuck up two faced arrogant people. But then again, he may prove himself right since he is a self confessed Londoner and clearly demonstrates that you can take a Londoner out of London but you can't take London out of a Londoner. He is a self parody, except without the humour

What happened to me in Manchester was an isolated incident and I wouldn't go so far as to tar all Mancunians based on this incident. Besides, until recently, I had family living quite happily in Manchester.

So that's only 10 million people that live there, 3 million that commute in and 17 million tourists then?

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I'm sure Newcastle has a lot to offer....like high obesity levels and low life expectancy

Back home now and no need to go back in the foreseeable future thank God.

As witnessed on this thread London is enjoyed by people who are self obsessed and think being a resident of London somehow makes them better than other people. Deluded would be a polite term for them, but there are other less pleasant ones too

Yep, it's a 5hithole. Thankfully I only work there now and then. But then isn't every City a 5hithole to some degree! You think London is bad now, go and spend some time in Dublin.

At least London does have some interesting things to do. I do quite like the fact that there's large areas of specific types of specialist shops in London. Want jewellery, you can stroll round Hatton Garden, want electrical.. Tottenham court rd, etc etc

Glad you took those football hooligans back on the train back with you though

The people may well be friendly oop North, but how do you put up with that depressing weather, and everyone speaking weird lol

Yup, all large old Cities come with plenty of challenges and drawbacks.

I know certain members find it difficult to deal with facts and prefer rhetoric but here they are anyway.

Some of the worst life expectancy stats for men and women, guess where?

http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/subnat...h-2010-12.html

Cancer will affect one in three of us, better hope you don't live guess where?

Another sad statistic

And last but definitely not least........this proves what a wonderful place it is to live.

Amazing that despite all that it's still better than London if only because people like you don't live there

Just in case anybody missed it, Manchester is THE SUICIDE CAPITAL OF THE UK

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co....evealed-690872

I wonder if one forum member has driven them all to it?

It's also the heart attack capital of the UK

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/ar...ie-London.html

So if cancer, obesity or heart disease doesn't kill you, you'll end up topping yourself anyway.

Funnily enough I am in Dublin now and for the next few days. Only been here an hour and already it's better than London as haven't found any oddballs claiming to be something they are not living in it yet

You should spend less time on the internet and tick that bucket list off, sounds like you haven't got long to live.

Yup, and the answer is still you

I never actually said London is better than Manchester, I just linked to a few facts. Something you find it difficult to cope with.

I never thought you'd resort to the Daily Fail, for a so called fact.

Besides, I thought Bridgend or somewhere sounding like that had the most people topping themselves, or were they just playing catch up?

Gotcha.

I remember very little, from the 70's. I'd like to say it was because I partying too hard and all that shiz, but, I wasn't born until 1975.

Fair enough. That would be a bit like saying those from Sunderland are the (not so) great unwashed and mainly inbred idiots, oh hang on, they are.

Liam Gallagher is a manc, and is a **** though.

To be fair the north and specifically Manchester has probably done more for the world than any other city, ie the industrial revolution, the computer, textiles, nuclear power, splitting the atom and science in general not to mention the music and actors and much more.

The best thing that can probably be said about London is it's one of the most effective cities when it comes to prospering of the rest of the cities that share the same land. The only reason London is the city it is, is because of the Thames. The Thames made London the central hub for the rest of the UK and to this day is where the majority of UK business is done, it's just a big meeting place.

Barack Obama even gave thanks to Manchester a little while back on behalf of the USA and said they appreciated what Manchester has contributed to the world.

In short Manchester made the world modern.

How does coming from Cheshire from make you a 'Manc'?

Genuine question.

Accent? Geography?

You take any opportunity to derail the topic when your b8ll**** self opinionated rubbish is shot down.

Basically Manchester has some of the lowest life expectancy figures, lowest cancer survival rates and ranks as THE highest for drug addiction and suicide in the whole of the UK. What a wonderful place to live, if only I could afford to move there

Careful there Walter, you'll burst a blood vessel if you don't calm down, but then with you being a doctor and all you'll know how to fix it so no worries I suppose

PS You derailed the topic talking about Manchester. The topic is London and why, aside from it being full of odious types like you, it is so crap!
