Default 2008 Brembo size?

HELP! clearance far to tight!

Hi, well I got the sti ver 8 alloys and fitted the Brembos and clearance like a millimeter or less!!! I think Brembo advise minimum of 3 mm if someone can correct me? But I defo dont want to drive my car with brakes so close to spokes what if a stone gets caught between? sounds like a disaster waiting to happen!!

I think I have two choices,
1. Exchange these larger (2008) Brembos for earlier Brembos giving me at least 1cm clearance or
2. Spacers/concentric hub route.

I dont fancy option2 does everyone agree option 1 is best route or has anyone any other ideas.
My mate has a classic and the wheels and larger brakes fit fine? But my studs are shorter? My vehicle 2007 (Jan) wrx wagon 2.5

Hi guys asked a question here recently about 17" wheels to clear Brembos and got good response thanks.
However Ive discovered the Brembos I have are from a 2008 sti and apparently slightly bigger than earlier Brembos!. Does anyone know the size difference re clearance I am looking for. At moment have been offered set sti Ver 8 alloys that defo clear the earlier brakes, but will they clear the 2008 Brembos I have though? Thanks in anticipation

Just been told difference is 1cm can anyone confirm if sti Ver 8 alloys will clear that extra 1cm ??
Thanks!

They are the same at the front, the rears mount differently

Version 8 alloys clear just fine

Hi AS Performance
Yes just talking about front brakes, bought brakes off matty here and found they are 1cm larger than "normal" as they are apparently from 2008 sti hatch after local garage contacted subaru with dimensions. Though when I got them they had been painted red. Any thoughts on my next step?

The 2008 hatch front brakes are the same same as 2001 onwards brakes , they are all 326mm.
If you are saying they are larger then they are not STI brakes , put a photo of them up if your not sure

Yes they are STi Brembo front calipers , the same calipers fitted from 2001 to now , so the 326mm discs will fit , you don't have anything different to everyone else's standard STi
Cheers Ian

Thanks Ian/
Why clearance so tight though? I was there when mechanic local garage attached and clearance was 1mm or less! or should I accept this tight fit? He suggested needed longer studs?

They're always tight They aint gonna move lol The only consideration is stones that will scratch the finish should you be unlucky enough to get one wedged
