Question Best 16 inch tyres for Classic?

For me, the best tyre for road use was always Goodyear Eagle F1.

But I've just tried to order a couple and they've been discontinued.

I guess things have moved on and most performance cars are now on 17s at least, so the choice of 205/50/16 seems pretty limited. Toyo Proxes are still about but I remember them getting bad reviews. I've be really grateful if anyone has experience of any of the ones Camskill have got listed that have an A rating for wet grip:

Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance
Michelin Pilot Sport 3
Dunlop SP Sport Blue Response

Or any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Phil

A bit track biased and definitely not a winter tyre, Ive had a great summer using Proxes
R1R's

I have just gone from 10 years of proxes T1R to Firestone TZ300. I think the wet grip is better but turn in is slightly less immediate but suspect the walls are less rigid as toyos always wore the edges over the centre despite running at 6psi higher pressure which is what Toyo recommended to me. In the dry the Toyos probably had the edge but hey how often is it dry. Interestingly I always found toyes good in the snow.

So what PSI were you running, 38-39 at the front -seems very high?

Yep 38 on front 34 on back. It dramatically reduces the edge wear and I didn't notice any loss of grip. The guys at Toyo recommended it because the tyre has a very stiff wall.
