Default Caliper removal?

Hi guys got a day off today so I'm goin to check to see if there is anything in my brake pads causing an issue. How easy is it to remove the caliper & pads? Will I need any special tools?

on my classic to remove the calipers (has a bug/newage running gear) It is allen head bolts on the rears, just unbolt two of them on the back of the caliper and it just slides off, unsure about front as i dont have standard brakes.

Oh and make sure to liberally soak them in penetrating oil before hand as mine well so full of crap i needed a breaker bar to undo them.

And its either a 8 or 10 allen key

What car?

Normally you wouldn't need any special tools, just quality spanners and sockets.

The Brembos can be tricky as the bolts tend to seize on those.

no std factory car uses allen bolts.............

the WRX will use a 17mm hex bolt on the front calipers and a 14mm hex on the rear from memory

Do I need to bleed them after removing the caliper & pads?

I've bit the bullet and taken her into the garage. £340 for discs, pads, new fluid & labour. That sound about right? It's all 4 brakes getting done.

Yeah it's the mechanic I used to go to all the time. These are just OEM ones to get me up and running again. Worst thing I ever did was get the Tarox upgrade from Demon Tweeks!

sounds similiar to what we would charge for good quality OE spec parts / fitting, but then again we know nothing about brakes or subaru's so that must be why we are too cheap also

Didn't know they were OEM replacements. I've been looking for the best fast road disc/pad combination for gold Brembos, front only, and have been quoted some pretty hefty prices for parts alone, way in excess of £340. Don't mean to slightly hijack but I wonder what AS Performance could offer?
