I want to re-touch my brake calipers on my Scooby (MY99). Whats the best stuff to use and how would I re-touch the white Subaru Text (The text reading down the caliper) on the front 4-Pots?

I want them to be black. Nothing special.

Any help would be appreciated.

Would I need to take the calipers off the car?

How would I do the white Subaru lettering? Do Halfords do white paint?

Once the calipers are painted, will the rust return?

For the white letters get a stiff sponge, dip in paint and wipe excess off, Then press lightly over the letters at one go, if that makes sense.

You could always try a very hard paint roller (the very small ones) for the letters. Just helped father-in-law do his boat name plate like that...

Will White Hammerite paint do for the lettering? Cos Floiatec dont do white.

Maybe Black Hammerite black paint as well, instead of the Foliatec stuff.

I've used 'Smoothrite' on loads of brake calipers, and in fact engine blocks, never had it come off through heat yet, it does chip though!

I used Smoothrite about a year ago but only did one coat. It's lasted well but is starting to chip and flake off now.
Going to try Halfords own caliper paint. It comes in one pot so theres no mixing the paint and hardener like the Fola-tec stuff. And it's only £9.99 instead of £19.99

I'll let you know how I get on in a couple off weeks.

I'll check out Halfords and see what they have. Cheers Iain.
