Hi all!
I had my95 wrx wagon fail mot on corroded brake lines on the rear (both sides)
So where are the lines routed as they seem to dissappear behind the fuel tank..
If anyone has any advice on replacing the rear brake lines it would be greatly appreciated. .

Sand down what you can get to and paint it with Hammerite clean up the ends too, had the same pipes fail on my transit this did the job

 

I don't think im legally allowed to do this besides the mot guy said they need replacing

 

change the lines then if you gotta take the tank out its gotta come out then

 

the the brake pipes are the same as saloon 1999 uk2000 I got both rear pipe forsale...

 

Im not gonna be buying second hand brake pipes..
So has anyone had first hand experience of what I need to do?

 

Just straighten them so that you can cut them, and replace with copper pipe. Alternatively, cut them shorter put a flared end on and have a piece of flexible braided pipe made up to suit.

 

i took off subframe when i last did them as there is very little access. I have seen them done by leaving old ones in situ and new lines put in with different route.

Usually have to replace section that comes from back seat to connector block too but its just a cut and join job, i did this to my forester only this week.

Had mine done last year, replaced from the connecter at the back seat, and re-routed.

Cost was £30 for it done.

 

Would like to see pics of rerouted brake lines if anyone has some as im planning on doin this job myself.
Also do the brake lines need to be secured to the chassis (for mot purposes) if rerouted?

 

simply route neatly around the side of the tank if you dont want the hassle/cost of dropping it to sort as per factory routing...........

 

im now thinking im gonna take this to my local garage based on the fact that i only have some ramps and trolley jacks..it would be much easier if i could work on it underneath rather than crawling about
