Default 225 vs 235 - worth £150?

For Continental SportContact 5's for example, it's almost £150 cheaper to revert back to 225 width tyres (factory standard) rather than replace my existing 235 tyres.

I have however spent a fair bit of time and effort on my suspension/handling mods - so scrimping on tyres seems pointless, realistically though how noticeable is that 10mm of rubber on each wheel in spirited road driving?

Anybody done the switch, how did it feel? I imagine the fresh rubber even if narrower will blow the performance of my current tyres anyway - but I'd rather spend more if the difference will be significant.

No input for an answer, but I was pondering the same the other day when looking at prices. Subscribed.

On 7.5" rims no, on 8" rims yes. But the biggest waste would be buying Continental SportContact 5's in the first place

Care to make any suggestions? My car had contact3s on it when I bought it and they were great. Swapped out to Uniroyal Rainsports on the fronts and they're terrible so I was going to revert to new Contis all around... Sticking to what I know!

Been thinking the same! Hard one, I have been looking for track tyres and they seem to come out wider so went with 225.

I've read a few recommendations on the Vreds, though I read a few on the Rainsports too and I was very underwhelmed.

With the Vreds though I can go 235 for the same money as 225 Contis, and after reading the Conti5 is worse than the 3... I may go 235 Vred

This is something I was thinking about too, couldnt decide between Michelin Pilot Sport 2 or 3.

I did read though that the spec c comes with 235, so maybe it does have some benefits.
