Default Brake experts-AP 6 pot calipers & PF discs

Does anyone know if its possible to mate an AP 6 pot caliper to the Performance Friction 330mm floating discs and still use Performance Fiction pads?

I'm currently running Brembo's on my Hawkeye with Perfomance Friction 330mm floating discs and Z compound pads.
Would the AP 6 pot caliper offer that much of an upgrade over the Brembo's if keeping the 330mm disc?

I'd like to keep 17" wheels hence the questions

No doubt at all, AP's are a significant improvement.

As for expecting to re-cycle old PF parts, don't hold your breath.
PF rotors are available for AP systems, so you need to ask suppliers for advice.

We can supply both AP and PF discs and pads.

The STi discs are actually 326mm x 30mm , the AP would normally be 330mm x 28mm , you could fit AP calipers onto an STi PF disc but you would have to have custom brackets made as the bells on an AP kit would have more offset on them so the brackets would be different.

The STi shape PF pads are totally different to the AP 6 pot pads and wouldn't fit each other , you would have to get the correct shapem pads for the caliper used.

Hope this helps
Cheers Ian

OK thanks Ian, think I'd just be better off getting an AP kit than messing around with custom brackets etc.
Appreciate the input.

If yours are in decent condition, they are worth good money...

IMHO

To be fair, I can't really fault the Performance Friction Z compound pads I have.
I use them on the road and they took 25 laps of the Nurburgring over 3 days, got me home and still have plenty of life left.
However, we always want better performance..
I did wonder about the 01 compound but not sure how useable they would be on the road?
Your suggestions are welcomed..

I should add, the car is used as a bit of a 'ring tool so will be facing another 100+ laps this year.

something like the newer 08 would be my preference over 01 for an aggressive used road car.................

I would spend the money on the AP's. I upgraded from Brembo's with Performance friction discs and pads to AP's with Performance Friction discs and pads, they are significantly better in my opinion.

The braking is more balanced and inspires far more confidence. I get no variation in braking performance with the AP's , so again I can go into the corner knowing that the braking this time will be the same as last time - confidence is everything and can make all the difference to hitting that pedal a bit later. I also find that the braking would be more progressive with the AP's, so again more control.

Is down to personal preference of course but for me the AP's are in a different league.

I found the initial bite with AP's to be astonishing.

330 mm AP six pots, the initial bite at 70 mph is amazing, even with ABS still working the fronts can be locked up on bone dry tarmac.

The first 20 mph is shed in the blink of an eye. Plenty to get the speed down to a camera friendly level

Previously ran PF discs and pads with Brembos.

HTH

I am running the same 330mm discs with AP 6 pots.

They give me everything I will need from my car - are fantastic and as I say inspire confidence.

As Dunx has said the initial bite never seeks to amaze, but from there they are nice and progressive for me - Is good knowing you can hit them hard and they will not let you down or fade

Yes I have. They are an improvement on the Z compound but for me lack consistency, although I think that's more a limitation of the oe brembo set up.
If your planning to daily drive them they are very dusty.
