Question D1 Spec wheel nuts

Hi guys. Just been looking at some D1 Spec locking nuts for my classic. Is the a reason they do long and short versions or is it just personal preference? If so have any of you gone for these and which version?

:Probably for wheels where the bolt hole is very recessed. And also probably preference, I like the look of exposed nuts.....

Be carefull with these if you get them, i had a set that twisted on removing them for the first time, and they weren't torqued very high either.

Ive got a set of these on my car. Ive just bought a new set of wheel nuts to replace them. They look good quality and are lightweight but after taking the wheels off twice the nuts are a right mess. Paint rubs off very easily...

Same issues here, after removing the wheels a few times the D1 Spec set I had looked very bad.

I'm using now Ray's Duralumin and they are just great. Very light and resistent (many track days and drag racings with them so far, no problems at all), but be careful there is a lot of fake ones in the market: http://www.upgrademotoring.com/wheel...uraluminum.htm.

Also, I've always used a torque wrench to install the wheels just to avoid overtighten any lug nuts I had.
