Default Surprisingly few tyre threads!

Not been on the forum for a while. Its time for my car to have a new set of summer boots. Wanted to see what the concencus is and can hardly find any info here. So here's my experience. Had my 2000MY classic since new. Loved the 16" Bridgestones it came with. Superb responsiveness. Moved to 17" and stuck to Bridgestone but they never felt as delicate as the 16s. Bought some second have superleggeras with Toyo Proxes and HATED them. Mushy understeering b@stards. Went to Pirelli P Zeros. Really nice tyre...great grip, stiff sidewalls...can really lean on them, but they're worn out now. Tempted to stick with these. Can get Michelin Pilot Sports from Costco for about 140 quid a corner. Not particularly interested in epic life...want grip so hesitating. TD in Warwick say that Vrederstiens (sp?) are all the rage.

Question....what do Subaru fit to the latest WRX?

Any real world tyre reviews appreciated.

JP

Tyres are very much personal choice, and a lot of that depends on how you drive.

Many people value good grip over wear rates, but others don't.

Add to that, the same tyres perform differently on different models, and that different SIZES of tyres can also perform differently on the same car.

"Minefield" doesn't start to describe it

Im on Toyo Proxy's and have to admit they're a little wishy-washy! Not bad in the dry but wet weather grip is awful.

Im in for a set of Eagle f1s or conti sport contact 3's. Anyone use the latter?

A mate gave me some contact 3's to try in a 17" and I must admit there pretty good tyres. Haven't done anything extreme with them but normal/spirited driving there great even in e wet.

i put a set of conti sport contact 5's on my rx8 and they were very good in the dry, and very competent in the wet. not that i pushed it that much in the rain, but they felt solid.

I`ve got Goodyear Eagle ***.2`s new on, and they have an incredibly soft side wall, almost looking flat at times; possibly not the best choice.

Im on eagle f1 assym2 and depends what You after
everyday/ all year car f1 are the best choice -perfect grip when wet and dry
tracks - still depends from weather conditions but to soft sidewalls like somebody wrote above. (my looks normal btw)

I've had several sets of F1 Asymmetrics.

I'm not sure what fawor means by "perfect grip" but they are more resistant to understeer than other tyres I've had and when they let go, they do so progressively. The sidewalls could be firmer.

Contis sounder better then. Went for a run with ss.net on Sunday (very wet) and the p-Zeros seemed to do very well indeed. They were on an RB320 though!
