Question Random caliper question

Is there any practical difference between having the calipers contact the disc at the front of the wheel, or at the rear. I can see that the resulting force will push the caliper mounting upwards or downwards, would that feel different under heavy braking?

It should be the same, and will only depend on the caliper mountings and what they are mounted to.

I guess there isnt any significant difference as you see cars with different mounting position......if any soulution would be much better every single manufacturer would put them in same place

No there is no difference , the manufacturers would probably take into account where the steering rack would be , and whether the track rods would connect front or back , and then put the calipers on the other side.

The calipers are mostly fitted at 3 or 9 oclock looking through the wheel as there is less chance of the piston knock back when the struts ect flex under heavy cornering
Cheers Ian
