im undecided wether to paint the letters now as the alloys ive bought are getting sprayed in white so white scooby letters might look nice or be ott i just dont know ill leave it to the forum lol

how did you paint the letters was it with a artist brush or with a hard sponge? and they do look nice

was thinking of paining my tarox's and them putting subaru stickers on them for stealth just hope they dont notice the 340mm disc's lol

 

all i chalk it down to is women like bling and men like shiney car parts :lol

I say do it sonic would be funny see, you should do it before a meet and see how many owners can tell

I may go for the stickers as I dont have a steady hand at all.

yeah £100 option to have them colored i think £1300 was enough already will paint them mite go looking for paint today

 

Did you guys figure out what paint proces and material is the best for thick permanent colour.

Maybe: clean-base colour-some paint?-laquer?

I need to repaint my APs and rear STI two pots so i need ideas.

 

when i've painted in the past i just cleaned them off with a wire brush and painted with caliper paint

 

Do you know where to get and which is good caliper paint?

last time i just used hammerite smooth to do tge brakes on my vr6 and that come out grate looked sprayed

 

Well i know how to use e bay was just asking for advice about brands. So hammerite would be the way to go then.Probbably primer wont hurt it.

How resistant it is to cleaning and scratching?

 

not a grate pic but that was after about 1 year and the car was minted 1-2 times a week

I've always used Hammerite smooth, and I've done calipers on four cars with it, plus my lad's three and the youngest's two.

Never any problems.

Clean the calioper as best as possible, wire brush etc. Then paint two coats of Hammerite onto it with about an hour between coats, 40 minutes on a warm day. Avoid touching the surface for a day of so, but the wheel CAN go back on.

Brush painting leaves no marks.

Swaynie: that's the beauty of it mate, they don't HAVE to be perfect, they get viewed from about ten feet away, through a wheel and a layer of dust.

I spray my calipers using normal car paint from a rattle can. The ones fitted to my car withstood a track day with no problems.

 

My APs were painted with hammerite befor (probably without base coat) and now black paint can be peeld of by hand. Probably they lacked degreasment and primer.

Hammerite instructions tell you to remove any loose, flaking or dusty material. degrease, then apply the paint thickly by brush to a dust-free, dry, non-greasy surface.

In all my years using the stuff, and that's over 30 now, I have NEVER had any "flake" off. You can chip it, yes, grind it, yes, but flake it off if it's been properly applied? Never.

I painted them with their smooth grey any way and lets see how that works.
