Default Backing shims - re-use?

Some while ago I replaced the pads in the Brembos with DS2500 and re-used the backing shims that were on the original pads. As the Ferodos had a backing glued(?) on to the back, I've a feeling that maybe I should not have used the original shims?
What's the word on this?

ds2500's do NOT have any adhesive backing on the rear??

as for shims then simply clean, re-grease and use the stainless steel items orifginally fitted

The original Brembo shims are the angled items with the direction arrow. There is also a roughened surface shim on the back of the pad!

Hmm........I'm now wondering if the additional shim also came from the original pads?
What is the theory behind the design of the angled shim as only part of one piston actually contacts the shim.

I just replaced the OE pads all round, in MY07 RB320 with PF pads supplied by Alyn 'stockcar'
I cleaned the SS 'anti squeal' directional shims and re-used them, arrows pointing up!
