Default GB270 and ABS

I thinks have asked this but need some things sorting out please. Does my car have ABS just when I broke hard in my focus ST I could feel the ABS working on the pedal however on a few ocasions now when I have broke hard in my Subaru this does not happen and the car seams to skid...

So does it have ABS or could this have been turned of by a previous owner.? Is there a cheap and easy way to find this out please?

Thanks all

Your car should have ABS.

Easiest way to test is pretty much what you have been doing. Stand on the brakes, preferably on some grass etc. and see if the ABS kicks in.

If it doesnt then start looking as fuses etc.

Is the fuse for the abs easy to find.? If its not a fuse the what next? Surely it would display an error message of some sort?

There should be some warning lights on the dash if its not working. However, it is possible for someone to have removed the fuse and bulb so that no warning lights are showing.

A test on loose surface is the easiest way. You will feel it pulsing through the brake pedal when ABS is active.

if it does not do this shall I just leave it or have it checked? As for the fuse anyone know which one to check? Is it possible that the car did not come with ABS? Me thinks this car will be the death of me...

hi there you should have look to engine bay, where is located somewhere like this ABS pump,if its there, you have ABS.

Subaru don't have best ABS system, which is something not good as Ford(i've before ST220,which have superb ABS system and comparing to Subaru,Subaru ABS is rubbish)

About the checking ABS codes, yes you could visit garage which have Launch Monitor, which will read ABS codes, but if on your dash is no ABS CEL,your ABS working OK.

If its problem with your brakes,i would suggest better pads,Discs,Braided Brake lines and brake fluid,if this not help, second suggestion, you will need better calipers, because Subaru 4pots are not the best...
