Had a funny feeling from the rear the other month and noticed the rear drivers wheel was extremly hot.
Stripped all out and check caliper etc. Pads a little low but free etc.
Then it appeared that the heat is coming from the centre not the caliper.
Bought all new disks pads and shoes, not subaru but pagid. So not rubbish.
Set all etc and still doing it.
Backed off the shoes completly and still doing it.
Ive checked the norm rust extrusion from the backing plate rubbing on the disk. Not that.
Removed the stone gaurd. Ive had the thing apart 5 times now and there is nothing to show a problem.

All I can think now is the wheel baearing on the way out.

Any other ideas?

Are you sure the pistons are sticking when pedal is depressed maybe a proper refurb is on the cards.

Could be a bearing but can you hear exsesive noise aswell ?

When you just drive a short way you can feel the heat is from withing the drum and less on the caliper.

No noise but when I bought the wifes scoob there was no noise etc until the bearing exploded.

Wheel bearing?

I would change the bearing and see if that solves it
