Default ABW arches and wheels?

I am looking to fit a set of ABWs wide arches to my classic (the bolt on ones) I will eventually fit a set of wider - probably 9.5" wide alloys - but, and here is the question at long last!!! Can I fit spacers to my existing wheels as an interim measure or will that cause problems with wheel bearings and or other suspension/tracking problems.

The car has 17" Bug eye STi wheels at present.

You'll need a hell of a spacer, I got 10x18 ET 20 under my ABW arches and they still not right out flush.

This might sound really stupid but I believe the arches are 40mm wider? therefore a 40mm spacer should see my current wheels sit at about the same gap to the arch edge as they are now? (if that makes sense - it did when I typed it!!)

Is a 40mm spacer too much?

tou will need at least a 9j rim or above for it to look any good . fitting spacers to you original wheels wont be any good and for the money you spend on spacers you will have anough for a set of rims

this is mine on 18x9.5s

and my 18x9 everyday rims

Your cars looking as ever, have you changed hubs to PCD 114? Only asking because of the wheels you got on. Heres mine but you probably already seen it

The 2 numbers and email address on the website might be a good starting point
