Anyone any experience of this 'big brake' kit ?
Hi folks,
I am looking to upgrade the brakes on my 2004 WRX. Brembos seem to be snapped up quickly ( or the ones that aren't are a bit tatty ), so I have been considering a big brake kit retaining the standard four pots. Spotted this on e-bay:

I know that braking is not area to cut costs, and you often only get what you pay for, but I also like a bargain too. Any thoughts or opinions ?
Cheers,
Paul.

Thanks guys, I know Ian does some quality kit which is highly regarded ..... but it's just a tad too expensive for me. Just thought that maybe I had stumbled across a bargain .....

With the 335mm kit we make you get a small amount of pad overhang due to the different shapes of the outer radius on the larger disc , going bigger again would exaggerate this even more , we use a larger pad in our kits so you get more pad material on the discs , if you used the standard sized pad with that kit , you would have about a quarter of the pad overhanging the discs.
I see the bracket , and the hole looks very close to the edge , it doesn't look very strong , you wouldn't want that ripping out braking down from speed !
The discs , being off another car , have been modified by elongating the stud holes to suit the subaru PCD , and have a ring on the centre , not the ideal way of fitting a disc onto a car.
This is why I make discs with alloy bells , the bells are made a perfect fit to a subaru hub.
My 335mm kit complete , which includes the larger pads , either Ferodo DS2500's or the new bluestuff NDX pads , and the higher spec 2 piece discs , is currently £550 , if you buy the ebay kit , and then buy pads , your not far off pricewise.
Cheers Ian

One other adverse observation to add to Ian's list is that the brackets are powder coated. As soon as they get hot the coating will soften and the bracket will become loose.
I've seen similar happen on powder coated wheels causing loose wheel nuts at trackdays and have seen a BMW lose a wheel to this cause after the loose bolts snapped.
