Collected my Godspeed brake conversion Friday night and got it going on tomorrow....assumed that my car does not have ABS....thats what I've always thought and never really had the need to try it out!!!

Car is 1995 WRX....I thought that these had the ABS gubbins in front of the air box on the inner wing (left hand side of engine compartment)

I need an urgent response to this cos if its got ABS then my alu bells need machining before the kit will fit!!!

Thanx in advance!!

Cool

I've just run out and popped the bonnet on my 94WRX and it HAS got ABS. Look at the front left of your engine bay and you should see the unit in front of the airbox. Silver rectangular thing with metal pipes coming out the top.

Hope this answers you question.

Kev,

Cheers m8.....my car definately doesn't have anything in front of the airbox (HKS induction kit now ) so my brake kit will be ok.

I had thought that's where the ABS bits were on our model cars but just needed confirmation!!!!

Thanx again.

Dave, did Ian tell you they would need work b4 they would fit an abs'd car, I've got the small discs option on my car, I can't imagine why they wouldn't fit even spaced in a bit, the abs sensor is miles away from the disc.
I know wlad with an RB5 with 'the big kit' and his fitted fine, but maybe he told Ian it had abs when he ordered it, I dunno.

Ian rang me today, knowing that I was intending to fit them tomorrow (well, today now) and that he hadn't asked if my car had abs or not. Apparently, on the early cars with abs, the aluminium bell needs to have a slight chamfer machined into it to clear the abs sensor. I THINK the confusion arises only over the early jap imports cos some had abs, some not. Didn't ALL uk imprezas have abs?? and from a certain date all jap imports (with the exception of the type r's and ra's)??

I dunno.....if there is any doubt i suppose its worth a phone call to ian. Just don't tell him that I have said all the kits are not gonna fit cos he kill me, it's just my kit

All the kits we make do fit with the ABS ring but because we take the 308mm disc further in with the 308mm four pot kit it can touch the ABS ring so we put a chamfer on them , I took it that the early ones didnt have ABS but from now on we will fit this chamfer to all the 308mm four pot kits so we will have no confusion in the future , it doesn't apply to any other kits we make ,
