WTF!!!!!! !!! seems to be the general reaction so far. .. As cool as a snowman in a blizzard.. Fun to play with but still assessing their track compatibility. They are running these in 7 racing series in the US.. so could be good!

11/10 for pose factor tho!!

Cheers

Why the funny shape?
Is it for a reason or just to be different?

Question

What's the techy reason behind that then? Heat dispersal and minumum possible metal needed to match swept pad area coverage?

Anyone?

Wave discs like those have been used on some race bikes for a couple of years and are widely available also for road bikes.

Main benefits of them is that with less metal the discs reduce the unsprung weight(Big plus)and also dissapate heat far quicker.

Only real downside is that pads will wear at least twice as quickly but hey, you can't have everything

Saying that, as far as I know only one factory WSB team(Suzuki) uses them so maybe they're not such a revelation after all.

Tony

Trouser, very nic discs, but these are SPRINT discs. I would not recommend using them on a daily driver scoob. They will not last that long.

Guys please remember that race teams use them for one race, then bin them.

On the plus side they have some really cool cooling veins in each cooling hole.

Cool

These discs are made of steel as opposed to Iron giving a pretty huge saving in unsprung weight. With these brakes and our forged wheels we are saving nearly 25 KGs of unsprung weight!!! .... Every Kilo of unsprung weight equates to roughly removing 14 of supported weight so this little package is just like knocking roughly 350 kilos of weight from inside the car... that is a fair advantage.

The discs have to be made that shape as flat steel would warp on the first press of the pedal. We really are testing these as a street/strip set up as it's 50% Show and 50% Go. This application is also only good up to 1000 degrees so we would not recommend for track use... just fast road. Its really one for quick tarts!

These aren't a Sprint disc.. this one has been formulated for road use. Plenty of West Coast USA cars are running these as a day to day brake with sensible life spans.

All doubting Thomases are cordially invited to join me for a cup of my now almost legendary (non existent) tea and try them for themselves. I will be the first to admit that i was probably TWICE as dubious as you lot seem to be.. but having them properly bedded in now on the correct pads they do stop somewhat.

Whether we run them as a line or not remains to be seen. we are still evaluating the entire Brakeman range to try and bring the very best of it to Subaru applications. Thanks for your patience with this, but I'm sure you appreciate we want to test exhaustively before we properly launch all this stuff .
Cheers

Cool

I reckon you need some BIGGER brakes to fill the space of those outrageous wheels
