Default Want to upgrade brakes

Hello people,

A newbie to the scooby scene, I have a GL which has got a STI conversion and wish to upgrade the brake, as the car doesnt have ABS. I currently have 4 pot on the front and I belive i have the standard on the back. Which disc and calipers can I buy for the rear and which pads are ideal? Also wish to upgrade brake hose lines.

What else can I do to have some good braking on my scooby?

Thanks

Hi
Do you have drums or discs on the rears ? if you have drums , it easier to swap the rear hubs to the turbo hubs . you can then either fit the classic turbo 266mm vented discs and 1 pot calipers , or with the fitting kit I make you can fit the 2001 onwards WRX 290mm discs and 2 pot calipers.

It will make a big improvement by fitting good discs and pads , you will see some good reports on the new Bluestuff pads , which we have had on test for 6 weeks or so , these will make a big improvement over standard items , and work very well from cold , with all the good performance pads available that will take serious hard road driving , and track days , these would be my choice to fit.

We also supply the HEL stainless steel brake lines , we have these on offer for £55 which also includes a litre of Dot 5.1 high performance fluid

If you want to discuss your options on discs and pads please ring me on 01656 723060

Hope this helps
Cheers Ian

Hi d1nnx first off i can confirm that i dont work for Ian but must say that i have recently gone down the route of wanting to change my brakes and after speaking to Ian i took his advice and bought them then and there, he really knows his stuff and the end result after fitting was as he described, much better than stock. I had the stainless lines, fluid, front and rear kevlar pads and rear grooved discs (i had previously bought the fronts elsewhere)

my 10p for whats it worth
