I'm sure this should be in the manual, but I'm buggered if I can find it!!
Anyone know the preferred wheel nut torque settings for an MY01 UK WRX? (running 18" Prodrive OZ wheels).
Cheers
Chris

Tight enough that you can still undo them yourself. Then check them all after 50 miles to make sure they're still OK. I've found it saves having to jump up and down on the wheel brace to undo them after they've been on a while.

Chris, 70ft/lbs or 90Nm is enough. If you're using the standard chromed-domed nuts, anything much more than this can damage the threads and you get little chunks of metal chewing away at your studs (missus
). As Dave says, check them after 50 miles or so. Never trust tyre fitters to torque 'em up right, or get the pressures accurate. Get your own wrench and pressure gauge (not that I'm paranoid or anything
)
If you do track days, as your wheels get hotter so the nuts slacken off, so keep checking them and at the end of the day when they've cooled, loosen them off and then check them again when you get home.
Also on track days, as the wheels get hot and expand so your centre caps fall out. Best take them out first
Regards,
Richard.
