Question

I have seen a few car dealers using a home made mixture of oils for applying on their tyres sidewall. Does anybody know the ingredients.

I've got all that stuff, ie back to black, MER tyre stuff, simonz, etc. I have a box full of car cleaning products.
But I want to make some of my own oily stuff, as this gives a really nice shine to it.

I know the stuff you mean and its only available through the trade. Its Autoglym Rubber Cleaner and comes in a gallon drum. I know cos i've got some You pour it in a small cup and brush it on. It is yellow in colour and has a very thin oil consistancy. Shines like magic

I bought some Turtlewax Extreme Tyre Gel a few weeks ago. It's the best stuff ive tried yet. Because it's a gel as opposed to a spray it lasts longer. Great results too !

tyres are a rubber compound, soooo any thing silicone based wll shine them up, pure silicone will not rot rubber and you can get it almost anywhere (ann summers, sex shops, halfords etc )

Red face

Try not to use petol or oils as they have adverse affects on your tyres, ie they knacker them up
You could use armour all tyre cleaner or the likes but the best if you want to keep them spotless is rubber paint, a tad on the extreme side thou just use tyre foam myself

Buy some "Protector" from Mr Underwood aka Wax Wizard. Gives a nice black finish, but not all "second hand car lot" shiny.

Lard works brilliantly, cheap and plentiful too. Avoid naked flames though.

Tried that Autoglym tyre dressing and its pants (white spray bottle wiht black logo) is ok when wet but when it dries its hardly noticeable.
