IMHO

NO !

1. I got black ones that have "cooked" to a nice anthracite colour now....
2. Anodising is easily marked....
3. I got some "air" off a bump at Blyton and the car sounded like I'd ripped a drive shaft out, it turned out that the nearside front wheel nuts had loosened themselves.....

Either fit some quality ones or don't bother imho.

 

Its not something that I would ever fit onto my own cars , seen too many damaged ones on cars here where people have put them on not quite right , and then force them on taking most of the thread out , but still drive around with them fitted !!
They can damage too easy for my liking , I would stick to the standard steel ones

 

Thanks for that. I have to say I'm more than a little sceptical of using alloy for something that is such a high-torque aplication, and which takes so much stress.

I think I'll stick to polishing my chrome ones

I think I probably wouldn't, now, for the reasons given above.
I like the ones you showed, which are marked, "Titanium Gold Finish" and are blue

 

I used to have ali wheel nuts - utter toilet, waste of money and dangerous, as the threads are not hard enough to take any torque. Changed to these fellas, marvellous!
So small, light, and robust; Project Mu we love you long time.

I bought some D1-Spec forged aluminium nuts off eBay for around 40 quid and they're great, have no complaints whatsoever. I only really bought them cos I was sick of standard nuts or "chrome plated" nuts rusting on me...

 

Agree with Ian. I had a set for a while and the threads kept going tight due to dirt/minor damage and I didn't like this at all. Just use big coned steel ones from PRI racing item D2 as I recall.

 

Do the Kei racing nuts come under this as well? Are they not really any good?

They're the same as most things...

Buy decent ones, fit them properly and no problem.

Remember, wheel nuts only need to be tightened up to 65 lb/ft. Copper grease the threads, check torque settings now and again.

 

Does anyone make stainless ones? Or wouldn't they be able to stand the torque?

 

Light weight steel ones here, so light I thought they where alloy........

I tried an ebay £25 set and they snapped, waste of money.

I now have some lightweight steel ones with a titanium coating for a bit of blingness, tad heavier, but look the nuts and seem to be much stronger
