Help with seized calipers
The other week i had my MOT done, said my braking was off balance. And what i may need to do is remove the pads and clean them up, I have today removed the pads from the drivers side and found that one of the 4 pistons will not move its solid.
Im now wondering if this explains sometimes when braking hard feel shake through my pedal and wheel.
Can anyone help in what is best for me to do? How do i sort the piston does it mean stripping the calipers done and replacing seals etc? Any idea's on cost?
Other option i have thought is maybe getting some Brembo calipers?? Would there go straight on or would i need new discs

hi mate its a comon problem i have just recently had the same problem with mine!
its relativley easy to sort this!
Get yorself a seal kit & also you will probaly need a new piston aswell becouse the one that is seized solid will proberbly be corroded & pitted allowing dirt behind the seal & this is why they seize! These calipers are realy easy to strip luckally!
here is a link to a good ebay seller these kits they do are excellent quality and i have used them myself!
seal kit: Subaru Impreza T Brake Caliper repair seal Kit Fr 4015 on eBay (end time 23-Feb-10 21:25:11 GMT)
stainless piston: Subaru Impreza Brake Caliper pistons Stainless Steel on eBay (end time 02-Feb-10 16:12:37 GMT)

I just spoke to ian at godspeedbrakes myself today about caliper re-conditioning ... he can as alcazar has mentioned do a complete re-build with stainless steel pistons. He's the man to sort out your existing calipers or to advise on new disc etc, give him a shout.
