Default VREDESTEIN ULTRAC SESSANTA or RE070

If you had a choice between VREDESTEIN ULTRAC SESSANTA or RE070 which would you choose.

My Car is a V5 Type RA Ltd 2.1stroker currently pushing around 320ish.

Tyre Size is 225/45/17

I won't be taking the car on the track so fast road use only.

Cheers Ben

Most definitely the Sessantas ..... I've had both sets as well as Goodyear Asymetrics and Toyo T1Rs .... The RE070s really are just for the dry and/or the track .. then I'd choose the Goodyears with the Sessantas very close behind and a long way behind the Toyos ...

Both the Goodyears and the Sessantas are excellent day to day tyres with very good wet handling

Hope this helps

Yes - Sassantas over RE070's

RE070's are how shall I say "challenging" when its damp or greasy

i would not get RE070's for the road. they are predomently track tyres. They are very stiff walled and are all or nothing. they take a fair bit of time to heat up and then they cool down really quick. I would not trsut them in the wet. They will let go without warning. They are skittish. I did not personally like them on the track either as they did not give me any confidence or feedback.
If for the road, i think the sessanta are very stiff as well?? not what i personally want from a road tyre. I'm currently thinking of getting the Eagle F1 asymetrics for road use, as i want something thats ok in the wet.

Iv got both & used both on the road.
RE070's are great for the track & summer only.
Vredesteins are very good all year round tyres & excellent in the wet.
Also Re070's are very hard compound & not comfortable as an everyday tyre especialy when compared to Vredesteins.

grip is great in all weather.

I love the RE070's wet or dry they are very good though it can be interesting sometimes especially when its greasy.
Sessanta's would have been my other opiton, probably going for those on the Type R over the yoko's ive got on at the moment, though if you had 2 sets of wheels then I would get both the RE070's and the Sessanta's

RE070's FTW !

Two different types of tyre though - RE070 is predominantly dry but works well enough in wet and Sessanta are predominantlt Wet but work well enough in the dry.

I'd choose the RE070 just for the steering feedback and outright grip - nearly as good as 888's.

reo70s give you some bad tram lining this must be said ive had many cars with these tyres on great for track but road driving a no no for me ..

My mate been the ring last 3 times same tyres now does not do to many laps to be honest but an all rounder he swears bye the Sessanta's.

I've been hugely impressed with the Sessanta's. Excellent in the dry and by far the best wet weather tyre i've used.

Another thumbs up for the Sessanta here, swapped to them at the end of last year, saving my Yoko neovas to be killed off on track. Can`t comment on dry weather use yet as it hasn`t been dry since fitiing em! But in the wet and crappy weather we`ve had recently they have been an awesome tyre, much better than the Yokos for the conditions.

How do the Sessantas compare on compound and wall stiffness to the RE070's and Eagle F1 Asymetrics??

Cheers for the comments Guys,

However I am swinging towards the Eagle F1 Asymetrics after reading such good reviews on many tyre websites.

They are perfectly fine in the wet and I don't agree with let go without warning.

In damp or greasy conditions then yes I'd proceed with caution

Depends what price you can get them at tbh, they aren't £100+ a set better than the Sessantas.

i found that out from using them on the track - in the dry. I found them skittish on the road in the wet

Another vote for the Sessanta's but then i do have RE070 on my spare set of wheels for the track, so best of both worlds for me.

But must say that for everyday driving the Vredesteins are more comfortable than the RE070 were. Also had them on for over 12 months now and around 6k and they still look pretty new, so good wear aswell.

I've had Sessantas too and rate them very highly. RE070 are great for dry, well-surfaced roads but as we don't really have any of those in this banana republic of a country, you'll find the Sessantas far better for day to day use

Just reading this, somehow missed it when I asked about tyres in another thread. Thanks for all the info here. Anyone now driving a set of the vreds that are getting close to worn out? Any larger noticable changes in these tyres as they wear?

Going to bump this up to the top seeing as its new tyres time due to a knackered rear .. grrrr

These are my 2 choices. But wondered if there are any other Users since 2010 that could put any more input in

Thanks

I've just fitted a set of Vredesteins to my Evo.... I've had them on every car I've had for about 5 years, they are that good.

Had T1R's on mine, very very bad on a damp greasy surface.

I would 100% recommend the Vredesteins.
