Question tyre question

hi people can anyone tell me what is the max width tyre i can put on 18 x 7.5 alloys any help appreciated

cheers dunx basically i have got 4 brand new toyo proxes advert said 225 however on delivery they are 245 i have had a look and alot of yanks suggest they do fit my 7.5 rim however im finding it hard to find uk evidence can anyone clear this up for me otherwise they have to go on sale

Most tyre fitters i spoken to, reckon 7.5" rim the optimum tyre performance width is <215mm but 225 fits OK,

Although you can "fit" much wider Tyres than that you won't get the cornering benifits of the wider tyre as it "Ballons" and loses Road contact area, not a problem if your always going in straight lines LOL

haha straight lines are what i do best especially on the m62/a64 to work and back so i can fit the 245/40s then ?

Put it this way, subaru have wheels as accessories which are 8.5x18 to run 245 size tyres, those will be right, the yanks are wrong.
And anyway, why do you want to run 245 profile tyres on a classic (apart from it looking stupid it doesnt actually give you more grip, but it will give you more drag ie slow your car down )

thanks for the input guys what happened was i bought them advertised as 225 only to find when i recieved them they were 245 they are on now and the 10mm difference either side is hardly noticeable so thay staying till they run out as 100 quid for 4 brand new toyo t1rs is a steal
