Question Correct Wheel offset 2003 STi

Anybody running 18x8 ET38 with 235/40s on a 2003 STi

My car sit's kinda low on it's current wheels & Coilovers but does not have any rubbing issues. Been offered a set of wheels with a 38 offset. Will that give me any associated problems

ET38 isn't going to be too clever on the hubs either mate. I could of had ET35 on my wheels but I went for ET48 in the end as it could be an expensive mistake. You could investigate a skinnier tyre but then you risk the rims and handling etc.

What make are the wheels.

I have a set of wheels at ET45 (TD pro race 1.2) with 225/40/18 and they rubbed the rubber strips in the wheel arches. I removed the strips and it just clears now. 235s on ET38 will stick out a further 12mm so sadly won't work.

Matt, Derpends on what ET rims you have. 225 on ET45 just clear with rubber strips removed so I guess anything more than ET50 and you'd get away with it (ie add 5mm with tyre and take back 5mm with offset. I would observe 225/40/18 is a common tyre size and will be cheaper than 235s.

Thanks mate. The thing is i already have the 235/40 zr18 tyres and i just need to get the wheels for them. So when i order some wheels what size wheel would i need to get, would it be 18 7.5 or 18.8s

Width of tyre is the factor in wheel arch clearance. 8.0 rim would be good for 225 or 235.

Why don't you just get your arches rolled. It's not very expensive and done properly it's a very effective but subtle mod. Then run the ET 38's without fear of rubbing.
