Hi,

I had my disks skimmed due to vibration which cured it. However ive notived again some discolouring appears as a 1" wide streak on my disks. First i though overheat but now i think it looks like pad deposits, causing a vibration again at high speed/hard braking.

Are the red stuff pads that crap that they are destroying my newly skimmed disks?

Should i shift to another pad asap?

Advice please.

(anyone got cheapest pad for ap5200 off a tvr cerbera?)

Your discs could still be warped too you know, I've had it before where they are fine at first then soon as you get any heat into them they have massive run out!

Once they are warped I would class them as scrap.

 

Red stuff do kill disc esp if ur doing any 140 mph stops!

 

I don't think skimming them is the answer.
As above, once they're warped thats it.
They just overheat more if skimmed

How old are the discs and how many sets of pads have they seen?

 

well im told warping very rarely happens and its just pad deposits.

Seems alright right now. Need to get some real good heat into them and see what happens. Cue brands hatch i think..

 

Redstuff pads made a lip on my discs in a very short time. There are far better options out there. Ferodo DS2500 and Performane Friction for example

 

had ebc discs and red pads ,within a month mine had wearped, never again will i by there stuff

 

EBC discs are pretty bad. Been there and done that (with EBC redstuff too).

We supply some decent grooved discs which come with a 12 month replacement warranty against cracking or warping.

Disks are pretty much new, im kinda convinced its the redstuffs leaving deposits.

Before when i had the same problem i sanded the disks myself by hand and it improved which lends credence to that theroy. I think skimming just removed it all.

Anyone got any spare Ap5200 pads i could buy that ARENT EBC. Preferable cheap as possible just to dis/prove this theory?

What about the Ultimax grooved EBC discs that RCM sell?

Surely to god if they're shyte then they'll only end up with no end of complaints?

 

they are not EBC disks. just EBC pads..
