Default Lowest wheel off-set

Hi,

I have an 03 Sti that I want to bring the wheels out of the arches a little,I have Tein street coilovers fitted which drop the ride height a little, any ideas how low of an off-set I can go before I get into rubbing issues?

Thanks,

Depends on the rim width, e.g. Mine are 8" with an ET of 44mm and with 235 tyres they just catch the rear arches.

OE STi rim is 17x7.5 ET53. I have 225/40/18 R888s on TD Pro Race 1.2 rims 18x8 ET45 and they caught the rubber strips in the rear wheel arches so I simply removed the strips and they just clear. R888s have a fairly square shoulder so other 225 tyres may be ok.

ahh ok,

I plan on running 18' wheels at some point, with 225 45's or possibly 40's on,will I get clearance issues with ET 45 wheels?

thanks,

Almost certainly not, but tyres vary in shape, some are "bulgier" than others.

40's are used by Prodrive on 18" wheels, so I'd stick to that profile too.

Hey,

ok so could I maybe run ET40 wheels? I will probably run 40 section tyres, but I don't like the look of low profile tyres.

thanks,

If you can find a 7.5" rim at ET 40 they will stick out around 3mm more than mine, so you might as well run an 8" rim as the inner clearance will be greater than mine...

well I fancy the Inovit Tarmac's which i think only come in 7.5J and ET45 or the prodrive P-WRC.

then I plan running spacers untill I max out on clearance.

^^^ See if you can order the Innovates in Celica fitment. They run a lower ET than the scoobs and fill the arches nicely. Mate had Celica fitment wheels on his blob, will see if i can find a pic.

It's a Scoob,

Carlos Fandango wheels and dropped on the floor stance are for show cars only, I couldn't live with mine lowered, it looked nice, but I couldn't drive the thing anywhere bumpy or uneven....

Not a hater, but been there tried that, and come back again....

Std. ride height and 10mm narrower section tyres to miss the rear arches.

I would prefer to have standard ride height,I have actually put a load of pre-laod on the springs to make it sit as high as possible as I too don't like the look of cars dropped on the floor.

I do want my wheels to come flush with the body however.

I had 225/40/18 on a 18x7.5 with a offset of ET38, they were inovit redlines.

If you look in one of my albums its the white set and thats at standard ride height too. It's the only one i've got of those wheels on the car where you can see them from the side.

HTH

Aaron

Ps the black PFF's are 8" wide and offset et53 and the car is lowered on coilovers to get an idea of the difference in looks.

18x8.5 et44 grid drifts on 225/40/18 (eagle f1s) - as flush as you can get with absolutely no mods needed or compromises in handling - no rubbing, no speed bump issues etc. prodrive springs as well, hope that helps...sorry dunx bet you're bored of this now (pcd 5x100 for my wrx)

Ok,

still a little confused by these different rim widths etc...

I'm going to be using Inovit Tarmacs, which are 7.5' wide,18' tall and 45 off-set,any ideas how much room I will have left to push the wheels out further with some hub centric spacers?

or what about with standard 17' STi wheels.how far can I push these out with hub centric spacers?

thanks,

Sorry I know nothing about spacers, but there's a calculator on here that will give you a guide to clearance distances in mm, tyre widths, and offsets - hope that helps:

hey,

yeah it's difficult, especially with it having coilovers on. do you think I could push the wheel out 16mm with a combination of rim off-set and spacers?

thanks,

You could possibly space the standard wheels out by 15 mm but it will be very close to the arches...

you think 15mm? with coilovers on? I'd have the alignments set too with a bit more negative camber.

so if standard off-set is 53,and I have around 15mm to play with...if i bought some 7mm wheel spacers then ran 45 off-set wheels I'd have my 15mm right?

been and collected my Tarmac's today, 18' x 7.5 ET45 I'm hoping these will bring them out of the arches a little.

now to decide what tyres...

thanks,
