I am thinking of some new stoppers.... I am a little confused though, what way should the groves face??

From AP's own website:

Then I see pics like this:

I know they are two different brake kits..... surly the concept is the same?

Does anyone have pics of APs fitted?

Thanks

Paul

The AP's and the Alcons have grooves facing different way to those godspeed ones pictured at the top.

Question

Im Guessing but the photo and the picture are the same. Presumably the drawing when viewed from the right looking in will be the same as the photo of the right front wheel.

Am I missing something???

Edited to say, Ive heard that one way the discs will humm slightly whne used and the other way they won't.

If you look at the AP exploded drawing , you will see they have curved veins , the grooves go the opposite way of the veins to keep the disc stronger , my discs at the top have straight veins so it doesn't matter which way my grooves go , but I fit them as the photo so they act like a snow plough , if there is any dust build up , it throws it out instead of dragging it in towards the bell .

Hope this clears it up for you , Cheers Ian

Wink

In light of all the PC/racist /Muppet bashing threads etc.Where everyone is telling everyone what to do. THIS SHOULD BE IN THE BRAKES SECTION !!!!! Next thing, someone will be complaining that the general section is bogged down with stuff that should not be there... Where are the Moderators when you need them????

I think that if POC is asking a general question then its ok in General. Its a good question he is asking and may help/inform alot of people.

Is this REALLY a problem?

Lightbulb

I've told AP before that the cut away drawing is a little confusing.

The picture from my web site posted by POC shows the correct way.
The major benefit of fitting them the correct way is that the curved vanes (on the AP discs), act like an impeller, drawing cool air in from the centre of the hub area as opposed to there being no specific flow to aid cooling.

Been awhile since mine was fitted but disc was marked left and right, if I remember correctly so no problems.
