Guys need some help please just got back from garage where kit was fitted to my my05 wrx.

Brakes are a definite improvement over the standard brakes only problem is the front right pad has a bit of play which is causing the rattle at low speeds. Think it might be due to the split pins on the pads, dont think it is dangerous just really annoying, can anyone advise how to fix please, I've got some track time coming up soon and want to make sure everything is ok

thanks
Iain

Sticky Piston?
Bit of an update, had a chat with DaveBeck who thinks it may be a sticking piston and I think he may be right. I had this problem before with the standard brakes, an odd 'clunking' noise coming from the front right when going over small bumps, manhole covers etc. Now with the new kit fitted the noise is still there, although louder this time.

My problem though is how can I get this sorted before next weekend, I'm pretty handy with a screwdriver but things like brakes I tend to leave to the experts. I have a track session next saturday and I work fulltime during the week, any ideas will be welcome

I'd also just like to add that I think the brakes are good, and this problem does not reflect godspeed in anyway

Got the same problem with my 335mm kit, I've done around 8k miles with the pad rattle and have tried everything possible to cure it, but its still there lol

My calipers are fine, no sticky pistons etc, pads are wearing evenly both sides, I think its just something you'll have to live with, unless godspeed have a mod for stopping the rattle

Have you fitted the standard subaru anti rattle clip back in , if you have then the pads shouldn't rattle at all , they never do when I fit them ??

Had another good look at the shim plates, I bent them slightly and put it all back together and it seems spot on....

Spoke to one of the guys who fitted the kit yesterday, he said the calipers are fine and I need te anti rattle shims which apparantely I never had even with the standard setup.

Where can I get one from and how easy is it to fit, I really need to get this sorted by next saturday.

Funny how it is only from the driver side though?

It could be that the spring clip has come off , it only hooks onto the pins , when I fit this kit I reshape the clip slightly so it holds onto the pins a bit better , this way it will never come off
It could be that one side has come off

I have the Godspeed 335mm kit and had to remove th anti rattle clips as they were hitting the wheels on my RB5. I tried to reshape the clips by bending them but just couldnt get them bent enough to clear the wheels, so i just binned them ....result....but now my pads will rattle when travelling slowly around 20-30mph, its annoying yes, but its doing no harm and at least the wheels will not get marked now

thanks Ian, luckily I have 18's so clearance shouldn't be a problem. Phoned the dealer today and going back tomorrow to get the anti rattle clips fitted

Here you go Iain ,

The closest one is the one I have reshaped , it holds in place on the pins better as well as giving more room in 17's
