Default DS2500's - experiences please

I've heard good and bad things about these pads, getting some fitted on friday as part of my brake upgrade so a bit late to do anything about it now but just interested to hear how you have got on, and which discs you were using too.

thanks
Iain

Good all round fast road pad. Had them a few times. Work well from cold and I found them not to be too dirty.

Had them on standard discs, grooved and DBA's and they worked well with all.

Tend to swap between the DS2500's and Pagids, have Pagid RS4.2-1 black fitted at the mo which is very similar to the Ferodo's

I am running them with my K-Sports with the groved discs and they work very nicely. Bit dusty at first, but I think that is the break in coating. Good from cold and I've not experienced fade yet .. although not had them on track yet either.

Currently running them on standard dics and will definately by getting some more. Agree with STiFreak in that they did seem quite dusty at first.

thanks guys, a problem I have heard of is brake 'rattle'. This is caused by the pads leaving deposits on the discs (normally when hot) which creates an uneven disc surface.

Anyone else experienced this?

Nope just don't rest on the brakes after a hard drive, use the handbrake!

generally a very good all round choice - they only normally cause pad deposits when heavily over-heated (and never heard about causing a rattle???)

to be fair they were designed as a hi-performing road / light track use pad - the people that have problems are basically over working them and should really be using a more track orientated material

cheers, alyn

Good choice the DS2500, they are an excellent fast road pad & capable of withstanding track days as long as you look after them.

As has been said, make sure you dont hold the vehicle stationary on the brakes when they are hot as it will cook & warp the discs causing brake judder.

If you want the best from these pads then make sure you "bed them in" properly and you will reap the benefits in both longevity and braking performance.
