Default New Wheels

Thanks to Jason at ScooBybits my car is sporting a new set of wheels.

Personally, I think they really suit the car. Even better than first thought.

None at all. My mind was made up for Redlines. Wanted the grey ones as have seen a couple and they really suit the blue. Jason didn't have any in stock and his supplier didn't have any either.

After a rethink Jason held one by the car and I was over the moon as they didn't look too OTT so I bought them there and then.

Shouldn't your tyres be 225/40/18 on a newage thats a classic size?

I have to say that white wheels really suit a DBM car

One Company I saw these wheels on (ebay) were selling that size 225/40/18 as a "Performance Upgrade" ????? the tyres in the package for 01-02, were as fitted to those inovits ???

But you should be on 225/40s. I've gone up to 235/40s with no issues and the speedo is more accurate, 215/35s will throw you speedo way out

I'm pretty certian it was a 35 profile. Will check tomorrow and update.

If they are and you say "way out", how far out do you mean Jon?

235's are normally fitted to later spec 'hawkeye' cars, bug and blob stick with 225/40/18.
No problems on a 7.5" wheel

You will be under reading by 2.8%, on top of the under-reading error the manufacturer puts in which is up to 10%.

225/40's are the accepted, but 235's will fit an 8" wheel no problem and over-read by 3.2%, which I felt made the speedo more accurate.

Tire size calculator

Use this for the maths, I'm not that clever honest

I'm happy with them as they won't knock it out too much. DOn't tend to look at the speedo much tbh with you anyway

Appreciate all the concern and comments though Still learning about these cars and all info gratefully welcome

No worries Jason. Lucky to have you so close by. Nice to have an honest garage and so far I'm happy
