Default Which are the best brake pads for road use?

Hi, I am looking to fit new pads for fast road use. I would like good bite when cold, I am not going to track the car but I do drive fast and brake quite hard. Ferodo DS2500? Mintex. OEM Subaru? or Bremobo pads. My present pads are quite hard and chew the discs up. Thanks Peter

i can only comment on ds2500, i've had these on both my impreza's now and their brilliant, the only pad i'm gonna try is performance friction Z compound pads but with their discs .

I have tried Mintex (1144s I think) and Pagid Blacks MY99 UK turbo. Mintex were very noisy and ate discs but were vast improvement over OEM. Pagid are quiet don't eat the pads and are probably better at stopping as well. Only downside on my car anyway is that you can't get them for the rear. I don't sit on the pedal (ie brake every 20 secs) so can't comment on fade etc.

If its a New age with brembo's then i can , as im sure others will, recommened PF discs and pads. Amazing for fast road and track and they will not fade. Been round KH in the dry and trailing brake and even after 10 laps still no fade. OEM brembo's were losing it after about 3 laps.

Hope this helps

Peformance friction pads and brembo discs - I have had no problems with road use, track use, Nurburgring use, all in all lasted over 8000 miles and still looking good for another track day

Hi peter
how much you want to spend? - as they can get quite costly especially if you getting PF stuff
do you want a matching front and rear set of brake pads?
whatever you do do not buy brembos/oem subaru pads, rubbish as everybody should agree for fastt road use
if you want a good pad (thats better then a ds2500 in my opinion) then check out this group buy - im in the same boat as you so if you want do some research on them

https://www.scoobynet.com/group-buys...rake-pads.html

just my 2 cents worth

Endless SSS are very good too & the Japs swear by them!

Though same price as PF.

Need to change my Pagid Blues - excellent pads. Done 6 trsckdays on them and they are ready for a change. The ds2500's I have on the rears are still ingreat condition. I have found this combination works really well, even on standard discs.

kyah, you might consider fitting PBs to your rear brakes. If you have a highish friction pad (Pagid Blue) in the front and a medium (DS2500) pad in the rear this makes the front brakes work harder and the rears less (hence they're lasting well). The fronts will last longer and will be less likely to overheat if you addresss the imbalance.

Front brakes perform around 80% of your braking.

The new age STI's come with EBD (electronic brake distribution) so it can change

Not all pagids are like that, there are different compounds for different uses.

Pagid blacks are probably the best pad for road use. I've had em for a good while now and found them to be excellent all rounders.

You can't go wrong with Ferredo Ds2500s either

Alyn for PF pads - cheaper than DS2500 that just crumble away and lasted approximately 2000 miles in my car. PF pads lasted 18,000 and never faded, never did anything other than slow me down perfectly.

Road, track or ring they are perfect and Alyn at ASP is the man to get them from

ive got the pagid blacks, again i would say dont buy, the squealing is so loud, i have to keep my windows closed. and i do have anti squeal shims on them too. I had ferodo d2500s from asperformance and they were excellent!!! the only reason i went for pagids 2nd time around is cos the ferodo was out of stock.

go for ferodo d2500, without a shadow of a doubt!!!
