Default Rear Brembos: Classic fitting options

Is there another way to fit these to a classic with out thicker handbrake shoes?
The thicker handbrake shoes are 190 odd quid which is a lot for what they are. You can get the Brembos themselves for the that.

I've aware of the other, even more expensive way by fitting the hub/driveshafts and diff from a rear an STI. But that would be out of the question for me, cost wise.

Whats the other option?

I'm sure I saw somewhere that someone had the diamater of the handbrake area in the disc reduced professionaly, but can find the link again

Its not just the handbrake shoes you are getting , you are also getting the mounting bracket kit which you need whatever way you do the shoes , In America they are fitting press fit steel rings into the discs , which also need bolting in , its an even more expensive way of doing it though , and when you need to change the discs when they wear , you need to do it all again.

The easiest / cheapest option is the fitting kit and shoes I do , as the shoes will last the life of the car

Cheers Ian

I bought the full kit from Ian £195 +£10 P&P, but you could get the conversion bracket on it's own and get your existing handbrake shoes lined with thicker pads. There are places that do this but I am not sure at what cost. Brackets are about £75 so if you can do it for less than £120 its worth investigating.

We buy brand new shoes in and have them sent off to be done , its an expensive process unfortunately , as you need to use the correct material on them , we ran into some problems when testing them when using the cheaper material , it was a bit of trial and error as they were cracking and falling apart , we eventually got it right and started selling them , and so far have not have one single failure , and I've sold about 500 kits now since coming up with the idea.

They are on offer in our group buy at the moment for £175

Cheers Ian

Its because I already have the brackets that I'm asking.
I see now its the best way, what with having to refit the insert on every set of discs. I didn't think of that.
And I suppose if they last the life of the car, or certainly out do many sets of discs, then its ok.
I havn't got the brembos yet, but Ian, how much for the thicker shoes on their own?
