Default Brake upgrade for Classic UK Turbo 2000

Hi people,

I am just about to go 'backwards'. Having owned 3 classics I bought a MY03 STI Type UK new in Sept 2003 - what a disaster it was. Got rid and now about to buy a late classic UK Turbo 2000 again.

Now to my question. I can't seem to use the search function too successfully so here goes.

I remember the one thing I didn't like about the classic was the brakes. So what am I best doing? I only intend to track the car very rarely and mainly want a good fast road set up. Do I need to be looking at an AP Racing conversion or the likes or can I do soemthing with the current set up. If I retain the standard calipers is there and easy way to get them looking a bit smarter?

Quite happy to spend the money on a conversion, but only if it makes sense.

TIA

The standard Subaru 4-pot calipers, (those with "Subaru" embossed on them) are rated as pretty good.

Try Alyn at ASPerformance, or Ian at Godspeed for advice on discs and pads.

They can be made to look very nice by cleaning with a wire brush, painting with a couple of coats of Smoothrite, and picking out the lettering in a different colour.
