Default Procedure to bleed brakes on car with ABS

Hi

Will soon be fitting the Ksport big brake kit on my Sti5 and will need to bleed the brake system, what is the correct way of doing this as the car has abs? Have done it before on a car without abs, but never with.

Cheers

just the same. I find it useful to remove cap off master cylinder put plastic bag over and replace cap. Forms a vacuum and stops so much fluid coming out. replaced my rear calipers and it only needed 5mm to top up.

I was helping Glenn at Carnetix to bleed my brakes for a fluid change and he did them in this order (I think)

NSR
OSR
OSF
NSF

Each time I had to pump the peddle 10 times, holding the peddle down at the end when he tightened up the bleed nipple. He topped up between each corner.

I have the service schedule from Subaru and it has the order down as

OSF
NSR
NSF
OSR

Interestingly there are lots of posts across lots of subaru forums that contradcit eachother. Does anybody know why this is? I was going to do mine yesterday morning but chickened out because of the lack of definitive posts hat i could find!

The correct order is:

NSR
OSR
NSF
OSF

This is because you are starting with the longest brake line down to the shortest. Personally i always go round mine twice anyways just to make sure.

Not done my scoob yet but am refurbing all my brakes as we speak. Any further tips from the experts are always handy though as i am, by no means an expert! lol

A tip from a garage mechanic friend of mine was to put a pipe on the bleed nipple and then open it just a small amount, this allows the fluid to drain through the system on its own. It takes a while to do all the caliers but as long as you keep topping up the master cylinder you will have no air in the system. It worked really well for me both on my scoob after i changed to goodridge lines and the wifes car after replacing the whel cylinders.
