tyres??
Sorry i know this is another tyre thread but i think there 1 of the most important things on the car and dont wanna get this wrong, plus dont mind spending abit to get the right tyres!!
I was going to go for Vredestein ultrac sessanta after reading many threads on here but have now been told by some tyre places I've phoned that they are a top end budget tyre and I could do alot better
I have Goodyear Eagle F1s on at the moment, and used them before but to be honest have never felt the grip was to good and they certainly liked to let go hard with no warning in the wet.

Hopefully, someone on here has a copy of the evo tyre test where the Vredsteins came 2nd. I've also read very good things about them on here, except that they wear out after 10-15k.
The winners, I think, of the test were the new Goodyear Asymmetrics, so could be worth seeing if they are available in your size.
I also remain unconvinced by F1 GSD3s, but I'm still experimenting with tyre pressures. GY recommend about 5psi higher, but they feel very twitchy, so I'm gradually dropping 1psi at a time until they feel right.

I have GDS3's on mine and I cant get them to budge in the wet or dry.
Round here its all twisty country lanes and 60 zones so they get good workout.
Just my personal experiences - I'm happy with mine
(plus they got me home when flat - 18 miles)

I'd say 10-15k for a set of tyres is below average. If you are still using Toyos then I suppose that sort of mileage would please you .
I'd got 19k out of my original Bridgestones and only replaced them when I had a puncture (still had over 5k left). Waiting to see how the GSD3s last.

Yokes were the thing back in the 90's cos they were about the only softish road tyre you could get. Everyone used to say Yokes lasted half as long but had twice as much grip - handy when everyone was driving FWD hot hatches. Toyos were what you got thrown on for free with a new set of rims - the cheapest way of putting 205/40/17s on, at a time when 17" rubber was pricey.

EDIT: ...And how HUUUGE 17" alloys were regarded?! (Remember the weird 195/55/13 tyre size for the R5?). Oh the memories...

Phoning around on monday to see if they do a Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric in the tyre size I need, if not I will be looking towards the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta which I've found for around £50 each

yeh I had same problem when I browsed internet, I was surprised when he come back with that price/size for the ultrac Sessanta. I dont think I will have any luck finding that size for the Asymmetrics. So will try get confirmation on size of the sessanta's early in the week and post here, and maybe even a name of where to get them from.

Yoko maybe but I disagree strongly about the Toyo's there are far from being a fashion tyre.
Whilst I realise that price isn't everything they are not £100+ for no reason. As I said they have done me no harm in the years i have been using them, and trust me they have had a work out and never failed!!( only due to my driving ).
The wheels on my car were supplied by Subaru and that was their tyre of choice, I'm sure they look at performance not fashion when choosing tyres.

No, have'nt gone that radical, maybe next time. My tyres were new 2 months ago when the previous owner put some new wheels on so don't see the sense in changing them just yet. T1-R's at the mo.
