Question

Was in at my local Subaru garage yesterday and was told by them that I might be needing two front tyres soon, the inner edge has started to wear away, is this common, the car is not driven that hard soon a bit miffed.
Has anyone else had this problem? is it a fault in the car from new (MY01 WRX, 1st Sept)
Any replies would be great??

Paul

ps what's the correct offset on the new WRX??

You seem to be thinking along the same lines Colin, great minds think alike!!!!!!

does anyone know of a programme that has your car and a vast range of wheels to see against it?

Get the alighnment checked. I had this problem on my old MY00 car. I had excessive wear on the inside of the front tyres - once the alignment was done correctly - the problem went away. Powerstation have just done the geometry setup on my new MY01 WRX and found that the toe-in at the front was way out. It seems to be a common problem with a lot of Impreza's - they are very sensitive to these settings. Under 'normal' driving conditions you shouldn't be going through tyres after 7500 miles.

Exclamation

This is a known problem on MY01's. Evo's long term car had the problem, as have others. The tracking has *probably* been set to toe in excessively at the front - but it particularly seems to afflict the Bridgestone RE011's fitted to the MY01.

Oh, and changed mine to 225/40x18 S03's soon after purchasing, and notice that after 4000 miles or so they are well past half worn.....mind you, my route to work is a mini Nurburgring

The standard offset on MY01's is ET55.
