Default brakes for over 300 bhp classic

i do track days and find that my 330 bhp classic is a little too much for the ebc slotted n dotted discs with red stuff pads, what would you recommend?

I've got Brembos on mine and find them miles better than the Red dot discs and pads I had with my 4 pots. Which were an improvement over standard OEM pads and discs.

I had to retrain myself when coming up to round abouts, As I would be stopping miles before them!!!

I've done a track day and they were fine for this and this was using the standard brembo pads and discs, another of the lads on the day was using the same in his classic and he too had no problems with the brakes.

The classic is a good 200-250 KG lighter

I've a set of Mintex 1155 to go in when these have run out.

I've been advised by someone who ought to know, NOT to get my discs cross drilled, just grooved, if I want to do track days.

^^^ what he said - plus if doing trackdays get 2 piece disks, worth the extra £££ imo.

If you want to keep your existing calipers, I can suggest DBA 5500 2 piece disks and Pagid Blues, braided lines and motul 5.1 fluid. This IMO is the best road / track compromise

Why not follow the proven path of AP's?
Big thumbs-up for Pagid Blues also.
I get away with stock 4 pots and discs for hillclimb competition and road, but only 360 bhp.

I have a godspeed 335mm kit on mine, uses the standard SUBARU caliper. but with bigger discs and spacers to allow thicker discs too.... the kit uses larger than standard pads, however, for track use i would suggest using standard shape pads, as the bigger ones wear in a funny way.....

the reason i hate my brakes and want to change them is that they are only the 2 pot pieces of junk and they fade badly

I have been looking at these myself but for road use only. how much of an improvement would you say you got over the standard discs and pads? what is your experience?

cheers

New age brembo's with performance friction 2 piece discs and pads are ment to be awesome. There is a guy on here that uses them for serious trackday stuff and swears by them. Do a search and see what come's up. I think the u.k dealer is an outfitcalled co-ordsport or something like that.

Got Newage Brembo's front and rear on my classic running over 300bhp

I find them excellent and i'm still using standard pads at the mo, got some DS2500's to fit once they've worn out.
Only done one track day on them but had no braking porblems at all.

I have Dixcel Carbon disk and Type Z Carbon pad on my Subaru. Did 3 days at the Ring plus 1 full day at Spa. Never fade and always sharp and strong.

Oh I am only running standard 2 pots caliper.

For purely road use they are great, get grooved discs, NOT drilled.... (they crack) and probably Mintex pads..... and you'll be amazed... for the money they have to be one of the best options out there.....

No probs on bug-eye STI with 340 bhp on track or off, just added Ferodo 2500 front and rear, stops o.k. unless I boil the fluid.... despite the weight !
Done 37000 miles now !!

Dunx

P.S. Seen these added to a classic, for a very happy chappie !!!

Try Jap Performance Parts or try godspeed, I am sure there are a few others who can supply the kits.
