I was heading over to a mates 20 miles out of town when i approach an escort cossie, i over take him and head on my way.... a mile later he passes me and flys off into the distance..

a few miles pass and the same cossie is doing a conservative 50odd mph. As soon as i move out to pass him he floors it. Being that i had never had a play with anything since buying the Scoob over 3 mths ago i decided to see how it would compare.

The short version is i stayed in front.

I do however have a major complaint about my brakes.. i basically lost all braking power and had to thump the peddle to get some bite back.

The disc's are standard all round as are the pads.

Now, my mate is just home with a buggy eye sti and it has green stuff pads.. although initial peddle feel and bite are better it still has brake fade.

I'm not keen on going thought that feeling of not being able to stop again so what can i do without going mental on the bank balance.? for a blobeye STI

Doesn't sound like brake 'fade' if you had to stand on the pedal and they then worked !!!
Might be pad knockoff, maybe a wheel bearing gone on one (probably front) corner.

 

Its your pads, EBC suck and the standard pads can be tempremental, you want DS2500, Pagid or Mintex 1144 really, they actually do the job they were designed for

I'll have a look at some of these pads then.... ebay here i come!

The discs are in perfect condition and haven't done more than 8k so i'll leave them for now as I'm sure a more abrasive pad will ware them out quicker than normal anyway.

 

Fact of life more grip = more wear....

DS2500 are superb ! mine cured a brake vibration problem and on a trackday I boiled my fluid before fading , it's so BAD as the peddle hits the floor with a clack !

Messy tho', lots of dust to clean up, LOL

You need to have a chat to Alyn AS Performance - Rally Motorsport Specialists , I find Pagid 4-2-1 blacks are good but thats on my classic.

another vote for Alyn at ASP - he has lots of choice and will recommend a pad that suits the use that you will put it to.

Green Stuff are not suitable for a Newage IMO. Red Stuff are marginally better but still not up to the job.

Performance Friction or Pagid I think.

DS2500 will kill your discs on track with uneven carbon deposits.

DS2500s atre crap IMO, fade when pushed on the road, useless for track.

Get some Yellowstuff EBCs or performance friction disc/pad combo
