Question Will this be ok? Has anyone got the same setup?

Evening people,

Just a quick question about tyre sizes. I have just purchased some 18" wheels. Now then, I have priced up some tyres (Eagle F1's) and I'm thinking of getting 225/35/18. Now with the car lowered 35mm from standard, will these rub at all? Has anyone else got this setup and can tell me how they find them?

Thanks,
Chad.

I ran 225/40/18 Eagle F1's on my MY99 RB5 for a short while without any rubbing. I have OE dampers with Eibach Pro-kit springs. Now running 215/35/18's after I trashed two of the Goodyears.

Cool, thanks for that. What did the Eibach springs lower it by?

i thought the widest you could go on a classic was 215 before you got wheel arch foul?

perhaps you should go fo a 40 profile or you could be in for a bumpy ride with 35s

They will definately rub in the rear arches if lowered so much

You might get away on an unlowered car - but its borderline with 225/35/18 - they also tramline a lot more, are more expensive also and thats why most people opt for 215/35/18

Hmmm. The wheels are 18" x 7.5" I think. Would 215's be wide enough? I want to get it right cause the tryes are costing an arm and a leg. If I had 215/35/18 instead, would I be able to lower it by 35mm without any rubbing??

Thanks so far guys.

Chad.

Sorry, Eibachs lowered the car by 25mm.

I have 215/35/18's on my Prodrive/OZ's and they are a 18x7.5" wheel. The tyre fitter did say that the previous 225 tyre was a better fit and that the 215 Hankooks I have stretched a little. It hasn't caused me any problems though.

Same size as mine
215/35/18 is fine on this size

Strangely the 215/35/18 can be marginally better fit depending on tyre brand - yes I know its bizarre - Toyo's at 215 seemed to be slightly better fit than Falkan FK451..........................

Prodrive recommend 225/35/18 for P1 so think it should be the same for all classics.

At -40mm 215`s rub on the rear mate, had to remove rubber arch trim and trim arch itself to be perfect-front doesnt rub at all though.

Hi,
Lovin the car mate. Looks similiar colour to mine. I will probably be lowering mine by 30mm so would think it'll be ok. Should be getting my tyres in the next 3-4 weeks so running out of time to make a final decision. My biggest problem is, everyone has a different opinion on what SHOULD be ok and what WILL be ok. Overall diameter is only going to be around 0.6% different.
