Default Wrong calipers

I have been to the local delars today as I have a problem with my front drivers side brakes, seem to be seized up a bit. Anyway, when the mechanic was looking over it he said that the calipers were the wrong type. I have the two pot, not 4. Mine is a UK turbo2000, and on the registration document it says first registered in 2000. Is there a reason for this???? I'm quite disappointed as I thought I would buy this year for a number of reasons, including the better brakes!!!!! Any ideas why this would be?????

Something very wrong here!!

All UK turbos from late '98 onwards should have 4 pot calipers (easily distinguishable by the "Subaru" writing on them.

The UK sport kept the early 2 pots (no writing) right up to the end of the classic shape.

Where did the car come from .... dealer?? .... is it registered on the V5 as a turbo?? .... is it a UK car?? .... just trying the obvious first!

Everything else is consistent with the V5/6. I have got other parts without a problem. It just seems to be the brakes?!?! I got it through a local garage, not a specialist or anything. I will have to check the documents and see if it was a turbo when registered.

Could be, wee need more info and ideally pictures to clarify this i reckon, those in the know on here should be able to identify it for you....

I saw a car at the weekend, which was badged as an STI RS, it was a five door, on a 51plate, with bumper, grill etc froma my99/00, but with a version 4 engine...... A bit of an iddity.... the guy that owns it said he was told it was a version 5..... but it wasn't!!

Are you sure its a uk car? A JDM WRX of that year would have 2 pots. Does your car have a rear wiper and no headlamp washers? If so its an import.

It is registered as a turbo 2000. I dont have pictures of the interior. I have the little "glove box" on the dash board.

Thinking about it, the previous owner may have changed stuff and then returned to as original as he could. The brake light in the spoiler had the wire that connects it missing. Also one of the seats looked like it had been removed. It had a scorpion exhaust fitted when I got it to. Perhaps this explains it?? I see a lot of people on here selling parts to return to normal when selling!?!?

By the way, the rear discs are vented. Arent these only on the V5/6 UK models??

God knows what that is.... but the parts are:

MY99/00 front grille
MY97/98 headlights
MY97/98 fog lights
MY99/00 bumper
MY94-98 Spoiler
Awful seats..... sport seats??? Definately not turbo seats (MY97-00)

An engine pic will show if it has a MY99/00 engine.... the coil pack sat on the inlet manifold give it away immediately.

Tony.

Also weird how it has colour coded mirrors and door handles but not the side skirts... strange.

Does look like the easy saleable bits have gone.. crystal headlights, rear wing, colour coded side skirts, interior etc. The guy has probably just sold all the bits he could easily and choped it in for a new car at the dealers...as they normally offer peanuts as trade in. May as well screw the dealer a bit .

Tony.

The door mirrors and handles fit with it being an MY00.

Does it have an adjustible intermittant wiper?

Is the coil pack where the leads plug into?? This sits on the top right if you are stood in front of the car. I have got some new leads and they fitted fine. I have also bought an air filter which fits and dump valve. The intercooler has the front mounted OE valve.

The seats were bad, I have got some 555 limited fronts now, and also the proper spoiler. Thank you E-bay!!!!
