Default Squeaky brakes!!!!

I bought some EBC red ceramic front and rear pads for my MY04 STI and had them fitted by main dealer yesterday.

I've noticed a lot of squeaking when braking approaching lights / junctions etc, is this normal with new pads fitted to front and rear at the same time?

Give them chance to bed in first, the squeeling may go. If not take it back and get them to whip the pads out and put more copperslip on the back and check that they fitted the OE anti squeel shims, may be that.

Went back to the dealers yesterday and they informed me they never used any copperslip. Ater putting some coperslip on they were still just as squeaky.

Dealer now tells me the EBC Red Stuff Ceramic pads are too hard a compound for my standard STI discs and that they are ruining the discs.

Told I have 2 options, purchase new discs (better than standard), and be prepared to change my pads very very frequently, or remove the EBC Red Stuff Ceramics and pay £350 to have the standard Brembo pads fitted and get 25k miles from them.

What's peoples opinions on this as I'm no brake expert.

Just to add the squeak is embarassingly loud, can hear it over the stereo.

Part of me feels like selling the EBC ceramic pads (only done 100 miles) and opting for the Brembo pads.

other good quality options without the dealer price tag or noise!!..............unfortunately EBC pads in the Brembo's have a noise issue and simply changing the discs will not (in our experience) have any bearing on the noise....................

Proper bedding in, correct fitting with copper paste and rear anti-squeak shims are the way to quite brakes.
I have tried more than 4-5 famous pad compunds from different brands (including EBC Redstuffs) that many people blame for squeaking and none of them gave me squeaky brakes!
Only rainy weather may give me slightly squeak but this dissapears instantly after some hard braking.

100 miles, pads are not yet bedded in. 500 to 1000 miles for the pads to be truly bedded in. Almost all squeaking should be gone by then.

Regards

Brembo's have now been fitted by the dealer.

No squeaking, a far better feel to the pedal and they work great from cold.

I have used Brembo pads and they are very good. Just cannot get my head around just how much dust they produce. Every journey and the wheels are covered in brake dust.

Agreed

A bit of a pain but dust is easy to wash off
